Lacrosse camps typically fall into two categories: instructional or recruiting.
Instructional camps are certainly necessary for developing the essential skills
and concepts that successful lacrosse players need but usually don’t focus as closely
on the “team” aspect of the game. Recruiting camps are important for players to
gain exposure to college coaches but often the players attending the camp are focused
on displaying their individual skills to coaches with the hopes of ending up at a
big time Division I lacrosse school. Very few players will land at one of the few
Division I schools and any good coach can tell you that how a players interacts in
a team environment is just as important as their individual contributions.
